Transportation Services:
Laka Glacier is located about 13 kilometers from Dharamshala and can only be reached on foot. Snowboarding begins at McLeodganj which is your nearest destination whether you are taking a taxi, public transportation, or driving yourself.
The distance between Triund and Laka Glacier is about 4 miles [6 km]. Depending on your strength level and speed, the journey should take between five and seven hours.
By bus – While McLeodganj has limited bus connections to neighboring towns, you can easily catch a bus to Dharamshala ISBT. From this spot , you can get a bus or a taxi to McLeodganj.
Journey to Triund
The trip to Triund starts at McLeodganj. Others also like to start in Dharamkot which is a few miles ahead of McLeodganj. Depending on where you start your journey, you should come to the Gallu temple in Dharamkot. From here, the Triund is about 7 to 8 miles.
The trek takes you through the beautiful forests of Rhododendron and Oak, and it is very smooth. While not many pedestrians try, there is another way to travel by Bhagsu Fall to Triund. This route is about 9 miles [9 km] long and relatively difficult.
Laka Glacier Travel:
Located at an altitude of 3233 meters above sea level, Laka Glacier reaches the very heart of the Himalayas. Glacier is located about 13 miles from Dharamshala in Himachal Pradesh, and can only be reached by Triund.
Laka Glacier’s journey is not difficult at all. This trip is a popular route among beginners, although some early travelers may find it a bit difficult at the end of the road.
Best time to take a Laka snow trip:
The best time to take a trip to Laka Glacier would be in May and December. During this time, Mcleodganj’s peaks are always covered with snow and offer a beautiful view.
